Step R

The second step of the FRIENDS program is "R" (Remember to Relax)

 

In these steps, children learn that we all have intense feelings once in a while, and that by learning to recognize our feelings and take the time to slow down and relax, we are better able to manage our feelings and cope in appropriate ways.

In Step R, children learn specific exercises to calm down their mind and bodies, such as mindfulness-based exercises, calm breathing and muscle relaxation.
